JR Opens the New Season with Vivaldi’s Seasons at BBC Philharmonic

Jacob Reuven will join the BBC Philharmonic and its new Chief Conductor, Omer Meir Wellber, in celebration of his arrival with two days of special concerts on 12 and 13 September at Philharmonic Studio, MediaCity in Salford.

The first concert taking place on 12 September is a collaboration with BBC Education celebrating the launch of BBC Education’s ambitious Bring the Noise music education campaign for 4-7 year olds which aims to introduce children to the joy of music making. This is a special honor for Jacob given his commitment to children’s education throughout his career both with as the head of the Beer Sheva Conservatory and as part of Sarab “Strings of Change” Music Education initiative. Jacob will perform 1st Movement of Vivaldi’s Winter to an invited studio audience of school children and will be streamed on the BBC website so that children around the country can be part of the event.

I love playing for children, because I feel instant connection between the music coming out of my mandolin and them in the audience. Children have no filters and experience each chord in its pure form, feeling it to the fullest. To them- Winter sounds cold and Summer feels like the ray of sunshine. I am also happy to be the one to expose them to the unique sound of the mandolin, which many of them would have never heard before!” explained Jacob in preparation for this concert.

At the Second concert on 13 September ‘Vivaldi, Mozart, Schoenberg & Schumann’, Jacob will open the afternoon with ‘Summer’ from one of Vivaldi’s best known and loved works –The Four Seasons. This concert will also be live- streamed and available to watch, both online and on the big screen at the MediaCity Piazza.

Please follow Jacob’s Facebook page here for the live stream and updates on the events.
